First Post

Welcome to the Rain post. Why Rain? Well I have always thought of rain as a refreshing time a time of peace and solitude. When I was growing up, my grandmother and I would sit on her front porch and watch the summer rain beat down on South Third Street. I cherished those times and until this day whenever it rains I like to sit on the front porch at my home and watch what she described as "the rain soldiers marching down the street".
The rain is also cleansing like when we go through a time of drought or dryness and the dust clings to everything it touches. We wash our cars, dust our furniture, vacuum the floors and still the dust seems to overcome us. If we don't water our lawns they dry up, the leaves of the trees become dust covered and a haze covers the sky. AND THEN IT RAINS. Everything is brighter the vegetation comes alive and takes on a new luster. A clean smell exudes the atmosphere.
Isn't that a lot like our lives. The cares of the world, the everyday routine of life, the troubles and tribulations that sometimes seem to never let up and we become dusty. Life away from God can do that to us. There was a time when we did not have time for God, didn't know him (knew about Him) had head knowledge about Him, but no heart knowledge. Some are still stuck there.
There times, if we do know Him, that we don't take the time to be with Him. We don't take time to water with His Word, spend time in prayer, or just sit in his presence and bask. Before you know it there is a drought, our spirit is dying and the dust of this world is all over us because there is no rain and we haven't tended to our spirit. That is the time that we should go to Him become intimate with Him, learn about Him
(not just a daily devotional), talk to Him like He is you best friend forever (BFF) because he is and then it will begin to Rain.

Just as a side note. I have not idea if any of you are interested in this or not. For those of you who are please subscribe and follow the Blog. This is meant to be a place where we can all be encouraged by God's love for us through the Grace of Jesus and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
Everyone is encouraged to comment on anything that is said and if any want to add a blog to this I can arrange that also.

I love you all and may The blessings of God overtake you.

Tom, I was so inspired by this blog and I truly hope to see more of it. You have opened your heart and bared your soul for the world to see and that in itself is a cleansing like no other. I do this in another form (my poetry)and it has been a healing of sorts to me. Keep up your work on this blog and please make sure I stay on your mailing list. God bless you and keep you always in the hollow of His hand.

Thanks for letting me know about this site, Thomas. I ditto Clarene's comment and also add that every day we are given to love and honor each other and God is a true blessing.

Good job.

Bro. Tom, you have always been an encourager and an exhorter to me even when you were facing battles of your own. I'm grateful that you are my friend and continue to do what you do best, that's inspiring and uplifting others. This is great, keep it up. Bless you in the Lord always.

I really enjoyed this blog, it was sent to me by my niece, Tammy Bullock.
My Father, Rev.J W Bullock, was, as I'm sure you know, a Methodist minister and I remember your Uncle Bill and Bro. W.T. Dexter. Great men of God!
Keep writing...the cleansing of the soul is good for ALL of us.
God Be With You & Yours..Blessings.
